Ann Howe shows the girls how to drink from a hose

Hello Everyone,

Gosh, it’s hot.  Our lovely people have turned on the tap in the yard so we can drink as much as we want.

First, they sprayed the yard with water early in the day so the air was cool and then they set up a chair with the hose attached so we could drink.  It’s funny, but sometimes we ‘get’ it and sometimes we don’t.  I understood straight away that this was good fresh water and after a minute of gentle sniffing I was at the hose having a good slurp.

Long Meg, Loupin Stanes and Hazelton were a bit slower and held back.  I didn’t mind as I could drink without any of that ol’ barging and shoving you sometimes have when there’s not enough food to go around.

And then there’s the approach of Tintagel, who didn’t want to drink, but who decided she could stay cool if she stood in the small puddles created.  Clever girl.

Tomorrow, my darling brothers Dorstone Hill and Durrington Walls move home to Snowdonia where they will create a new llama farm.  They are one year olds now and very self-reliant.  Perhaps we’ll see them at a llama beauty pageant one day?
